By Maureen Curtis Contributing Writer Ambleside/Dundarave Ratepayers representative George Murrell said he was astonished at the proposed new $84 water turn-on or turn-off fees. But West Vancouver Mayor Mark Sager said, ‘‘It’s a way to raise some extra revenue.” Water service connection will now cost $1,638, while disconnec- tion or reconnection will cost $630 for single-family homes and $1,260 for all other buildings. A new fee of $108 will be ap- plied when staff are required to locate a water shut-off. The fee increases introduced April 8 included $162 (up from $100) for parking a recreational vehicle on a highway for a year or any part of a year. Commercial vehicles or equip- ment not removed from residential single-family and two-family zones every evening will cost $162 for every 15 days, with additional fees when they are parked in com- merical and multiple-dwelling zones. The building bylaw will lixely see fee increases, including a damage deposit where the value of the work proposed exceeds $11,000. The deposit will be $2,205 on single-family or duplex dwellings and $73 per lineal metre of street frontage on all other parcels. The municipality can use the money — 10 per cent of which is non-refundable — to repair dam- ages to sidewalks, roads or other . municipal facilities damaged dur- ing construction. The creeks bylaw will also be subject to a five per cent per an- num fee increase since the last amendment in 1989, resulting in a charge of $83, or one per cent of SENSI H without breaking the bank.
