local Amnesty groups celebrate

TO MARK its 25th anniversary,
Amnesty International has  an-
nounced 12 prisoner appeal cases
from around the world. These
cases are the focus of this year's
Amnesty International Week runn-
ing until Oct. 26.

Among the events planned are
mock prison vigils at Robson
Square Oct. 24 from !-6 p.m. and
the West End Community Centre
Oct. 26 from 12-4 p.m. Many
Vancouver personalities including
Gordon Campbell, Marguerite
Ford, Libby Davies and John
Russell will join in.
