Two NS women skaters named to Canadian team Two women skaters from the North Shore are being named to the eight-member Canadian team which will compete in two top European’ championships this summer. They are Martine Vigouret of the North Shore Winter Club and West Vancouver's Julie Ham- monds, who is _ presently skating out of Toronto. Miss Vtgouret teamed with Alan Atkins of Killarney Figure Skating Club to win the B.C. Junior ice-dancing championship, then also finished fourth in the Canadian championship. Miss Hammonds, a former Hollyburn skater and now partnered by Bob Heighing- ton of Toronto, finished second in the Canadian junior ice-dancing event. In addition to Vogouret, Hammonds and Atkins the team includes two other B.C. skaters -- Kim Scott of Kamloops and Jimmy Szabo of Coquitlam. Cathy McFarlane and Brian Pockar of: Calgary, together with Heighington, make up the three non-B.C. team members. The Canadian team is entered for the St. Gervais Grand Prix competition in France and the Oberstdorf International competition in West Germany in mid- August. Summer arts camp for children The West Vancouver Rec- reation Centre will be offer- ing a new recreational arts day camp this summer for children. Located in the heart of the Dundaraye Beach area, the program will be held mainly outdoors, with ample facilities indoors in case of rain. The primary focus of the camp will be fun through arts and crafts. Time will also be set aside for recreational games and local walks. Each of the four sessions this summer will run for two weeks — Monday through Friday — from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Some crafts which will be included in the Programs are tie-dye, pot- tery, puppetry, weaving and paper-mache.
