A “Unity Day” parade will
be staged Saturday, June 28,
by the West Vancouver
branch of the Royai
Canadian Legion as a
prelude to the celebration of
Canada’s 113th birthday next
Tuesday — Canada Day.

The parade starts at 12
noon from the vicinity of
18th and Marine and will
proceed to the Ice Arena at

Canada Week
celebrated

Saturday’s “Unity Day”
parade in West Vancouver
(see story on this page) is one
of hundreds of similar events
being organized in com-
munities throughout B.C. in
celebration of Canada
Week, June 25 - July 1.

Dove Hendren, provincial
chairman for Canada Week,
says more than 74 com-
munities are staging sanc-
tioned Canada Week
festivities with hundreds of
other areas linking existing
events to Canada’s Birthday
theme.

“People from all walks of
life have stepped forward to
organize cvents in their
communities com
mecmorating our country’s
113th = = birthday”, Mrs
Hendren said.

Schools are particularly
active, she said, and
churches’ throughout the
provinces will be giving

activity ranged from scrious.
