Robber foiled “AN ALERT bank teller is being credited with prevening 1a bank robbery on Tuesday at the Toronto Dominion ' Bank, 1802 Marine Dr., in West Vancouver. i The teller, whose name was not released, noticed a san waiting in the bank foyer at approximately 10 a.m., according to a West Vancouver Police spokesman. Upon closer inspection, police say, the bank teller noticed a handgun concealed in « bag the man was hold- ing. The teller alerted the bank manager who in turn delayed opening the bank and contacted police. The weapon turned out to be a pellet pistol which is a replica handgun. Rebert Ross White, 45, of no fixed address, is facing nunterous charges in connection with the incident. White had a Canada-wide warrant for his arrest in connection with parole violations when he was arrested. Hikers found TWO VANCOUVER-AREA residents, lost while hiking, were found by North Shore Rescue Team members on “ Monday in Lynn Headwaters Regional Park. But residents have angrily peti- tioned council for years to reduce or eliminate the noise from gunshots in Lynn Valley. Another gun club operating in the Seymour Demonstration Forest ~— the Pacific Shooters’ Association — was the target of similar court action by the district, but the suit . was dropped at the last minute on : April 13. - “We determined from the evi- dence that it was the skeet club that was causing the noise ....” said Bennett. Ron Wood announced at the April 25 meeting of West Vancouver District Council. The projects, should they be approved, are funded by three lev- els of government — local, provin- cial and federal. Projects applied for involve the construction of rouds, sewers and recreational facilities, The municipality would come up with its funding from operating and statutory reserves, including the Capital Facilities Fund (an annual collection of 3% of general taxation) and the $16 million Endowment Fund. Expenditures from the $11 mil- iion capital budget include continu- ation of a computer system upgrade and introduction of voice mail.
