For Todd, a former alderman and recipient of the Civic Award for her work with young people, the occasion marks the 39th year she has spearheaded the {focal pageant. For the 11 contestants, the event will wrap up a busy spring that has included a fashion show, an evening at Grouse Mountain where they met the judges, fund- raising car washes and a visit to seniors, 7171 WOMEN COMPETING FOR LOCAL TITLE Pageant spokeswoman Pattie Lamb told the News that she is especially proud of the contes- tants’ visit to North Vancouver “‘pioneers’’ at the Evergreen Ex- tended Care facility at Lion’s Gate Hospital last Sunday. ‘““A member of the audience, Mrs. Ruth Clark, Barry's mother, remembered the day her grand- daughter, Susan Darby, won the Miss Personality title in 1970,’ Lamb said. “The contestants practised the talent they will perform on the pageant night and served the resi- dents home-baked goodies they brought.” In preparation for pageant Paid Advertising Mrs. J. Prizes contributed to date in- clude scholarships, fresh water pearls, a modelling package, a photo portfolio, watches and assorted other gifts for all contes- tants, Lamb said.
