Ladder tips What starts out as a good idea, sometimes ends up being a highly regrettable experience. Many do-it- yourselfers decide over- night to be plumbers, brick Masons, concrete mixers, carpenters, painters and wallpaper hangers. Quite a gumber of these “jobs around the house” require the use of an age-old device, cated “a ladder”. which also happens to be the cause of many accidents and in- jurtes. Helpful suggestions to avoid injury: —Always face the ladder when climbing up or down and while working Don't eave ladders standing. They're always inviting temptations to children. —Be sure the ladder has secure footing Soft ground can be especially hazardous, since it can give way slowly and uncxapectedly under weight, —Never climb all tho way to the top of a ladder. The higher you climb on a ladder, the tess stability you will have and the greater the potential for toppling. —Don't use a ladder that has defects. Inspect it for breaks, loose rungs or in- secure steps. ; —If you need to move to the right or left. climb down and move the ladder Never stretch on a ladder as this adds great strain to the. musculo-skeletal system, in addition to increasing your chances of sustaining ao scfious fracture.
