1982-83 Canada World
Youth Program.

Canada World Youth is a
Canadian non-profit
organization which proposes
youth exchanges between
Canada and Third World
countries. Now in its
eleventh year of operation
23 exchange countries have
been involved with Canada
World Youth with a total of
over 6,000 young people
from Canada and exchange
countries having par-
ticipated.

The program was founded
by a group of Canadian
Citizens interested in the
role of youth in con-
temporary society: a society
where it is becoming in-
creasingly apparent that in
order to live in the world of
today and tomorrow, people
must develop tolerance and
openness to values and ways
of doing things which are
foreign to them. They must
be willing to become in-
volved in the complex issues
of development.

Doug will participate in
the program for a period of
seven months. His particular
exchange is with the country
of Morocco. The Third
World experience is only
one part of the Canada
World Youth program
however, and Doug will first
spend three and a _ half
months in Southern Quebec
along with thirteen other
young Canadians from
across the country” and
fourteen young people from
Morocco.

During this time, Doug
will live with a local family
and be involved in a com-
munity-oriented work
proyect. In mid-December,
the entire group will depart
