Al4 - Wednesday, December 3, 1980 - North Shore News i community roundup nta fund needs help Used clothing and _ fur- niture, toys in goood condi- tion, non-perishable food items for hampers and cash donations are needed by the West Vancouver Santa Claus Fund to make Christmas a lite brighter for 100 or more needy West Van families. Now in its 48th year, the fund depends entirely upon the genorosity of individual citizens, service organiza- tions, churches, schools and businesses to carry out its annual role in the communi- ty. It receives no financial support from any level of government. But the fund does receive help from the municipality in the form of space for the storage and coordination of material donations at West Van's No. 1 Fire Hall, 16th and Fulton. The _ firefighters give valuable assistance’ by repairing and _ refurbishing toys, and with deliveries of food hampers. Gifts of food, toys and clothing are deeply ap- preciated by recipients and should be brought to the Fire Hall, between 9:30 am and 4:30 pm. Cash donations payable to the West Van Santa Claus Fund are also needed and tax-deductible receipts are issued. Cheques or money orders may be mailed to P.O. Box 91114, West Van- couver or paid in person at the Royal Bank, 17th and Marine (next to Safeway). Ruth Stout, the fund's un- paid executive officer, stresses the absence of any administration expenses. All work is carried out by volunteers and 100 cents out of every dollar received is used exclusively for the pur- chase of food for the hampers. For further information Mrs. Stout can be contacted during the day at the Fire Hall (922-6522) or otherwise at her home (922-4537).
