Chrysler workers, facing a
long stretch without regular
paychecks, say they will get
by with a little help from
their friends.

calls ‘right now from other
unions, asking what's
happening. There's a lot of
interest.”

Despite the threat of wide-
spread layoffs throughout
the North American auto
industry, Ford of Canada
employees. pledged about
$40,000 a month through
increased monthly union
dues of $10 to help the
