10- Dear Editor: Tam the citizen who chal- lenged a parking ticket due to a nine-month delay to get to trial (June 27 News, MLA fights ticket). The court dismissed my application, but coincidently four days later the B.C. Court of Appeal threw out criminal es duc to “administrative apathy” causing delay. That was my point as well. Wednesday, July 21, 1999 — North Shore News Cruising through the same June 27 edition, I find the fol- lowing articles: front page story on the Horseshoe Bay terminal issue. There’s no mention of the efforts of Ted Nebbeling in this matter. Tim Renshaw’s col- umn on the Cleveland Dam projects. Did Mr. Renshaw make reference to the meetings and correspondence that I have had over the months on this north shore news AIL olive WILAS in News ste matter? No. Editorial on the funding shortfall in the North Vancouver school district. Did our reporter call Katherine Whittred to ascertain the con- cems that she has raised in the legislarure over this problem? Scycove school expansion is again placed number one on the expansion fist. Did anyone from the News talk to Dan Jarvis, who raised this problem Box months ago and brought it up in the education estimates? No. MLAs are part of the com- munity your paper serves. Perhaps you could make sorie effort to seck their views and ascertain their actiozs, just as you do a citizen who dares to challenge administrative apathy. Jeremy Daiton, a citizen and admittedly an MLA North Vancouver ries Appreciation for concert support Dear Editor: I would like to thank the community of the North Shore for their enthusiastic support of my recent concert: Heart on Siceve. It was an extraordinarily validating expericnee to wit- ness the audience response. Clearly, there is sulla need in our society for art, beauty and communication. Not only was it an affirm- ing moment for me as an artist, but the generosity of certain individuals within our community provides a begin- ning towards achieving my fundraising goals for advanced studies in Princeton, New. Jersey. I will treasure — that evening as a turning point in my training as a singer, as the end of one chapter and the beginning of many more.’ Douglas Millar d.millar@netcom.ca Summer Clearance YOU'RE INVITE to the 12th Annual CARIBBEAN DAYS FESTIVAL'S: > Sacurday j is ‘Multicultural Day‘ and you're invited to mark _- the oceasion by participating ” On Selected Home Furnishings @ Accessories.
