Place and became the first Cana- dian in four years to win a BF Goodnch Cup Stadium event. The victory by McPherson, 25, in his Berrien Buggy gives him a commanding lead in the BFGoodrich Autocross Triple Crown series which moves on to Montreal's Olympic Stadium on June 2, then finishes in McPherson's home territory at Toronto’s Exhibition Park, June 8. After winning pole posi- tion, by virtue of an easy eight lap qualifier, McPher- son then beat Texan Joe Furlong in the final. Another Texan, Bubba Wagner, finished third, while fourth place went to Mike Strong of Tacoma, Washington. Warren Miller of Van- couver rolled his car, and once righted, had to settle tor seventh place. The best per- formance Quebec racer Dean Dodd could muster was ninth, despite an impressive qualifying heat where he was second to Wagner. California born Caddell, now a Roger surveyor from Puyallup, Washington, avoided any “‘pile up’’ on the track He tinished fifth in the feature and had a third place in his qualifier race. Although McPherson ™ made winning look relatively easy by leading the BFG Cup tinal trom start to finish, he did have to coniend with broken shock absorbers on the right crear. He was getting both good distance and height off most of the jumps and the crowd of 16,000 in- side the domed = stadium seemed very impressed with the Ontarian’s) driving display?
