“But even neutral shades, blend-
ing is essential for a truly soft, nat-
ural look,” she explains.

There are sponges, brushes and

but there’s one essential beauty tool

Brown offers some expert tips

© Apply a deeper shade of eyeshad-
ow in the crease of the eye and high-
lighter in a lighter shade on the
browbone; blend with a clean cotton
swab.
® With an eye pencil, draw a fine
from the middle of the eye to the
outer corner, staying close to lashes.
For a more natural look, use a swab
to gently smudge and soften the
line.
Mascara ‘smudges? Just dip the
swab in a non-oily remover to wipe
the smudges away. A non-oily
remover will prevent additional
smudging.

great for eyeshadow application.

When using any object near the
eye, it's important to keep a steady
hand and use only the highest quali-
ty products,

“There’s always the risk of pok-
ing the eye and scratching the
cornea,” explains Dr. Michael A.
Boxer, a New York ophthalmologist.
“Extra cushioning at the tips helps
reduce the chances of scratching the
eye, and is less irritating,” he says.

Boxer advises the selection of a
high-quality cotton swab made with
only 100% pure, tightly woven cot-
ton.

“IT recommend swabs with a tight
weave to prevent loose fibres from
entering the eyes,” he explains.
“Also avoid synthetic materials and
