One little smooch later, and

ting what you wish for has the odd
couple seeing life through different
eyes.

There's a lot to like in this gentie
comedy. First there's Meg Ryan,
the working definition of adorable.
She's easily the most magical ele- .
ment in this fantasy. : .

The literate screenplay is
another bonus, spun around that
Hollywood rarity, romance, and,
knowing when to keep out of
charm’s way, director Norman
Rene exercises admirable restraint.

Alec Baldwin plays the role with
a placid, soft-eyed vulnerability.
