22 — Friday, June 8, 1990 - North Shore News Summer opera workshop focuses on Hansel and Gretel OPERA ENTHUSIASTS are once again invited to sign up for the Summer Opera Workshop for vo- calists offered by the Tatiana Vasilieva Opera Studio in North Vancouver. In this year’s workshop, from July 23 to August 5, students will prepare a shortened form as well as a children’s version of Humperdinck’s opera Hanse! and Gretel. Scenes from other operas will also be studied and the workshop will culminate in 2 public performance complete with costumes. Says artistic director Tatiana Vasilieva, who has a long record of yt % <9 acclaimed opera productions, workshops and master classes, “The workshop is for people who want to sharpen their vocal and acting skills and gain experience performing in an operatic setting.”” Participanis must be musically literate, and acceptance into the workshop is by audition or ar- rangement with the artistic direc- tor. The application deadline is June 15, but late applications may be considered. The children’s program (mini- mum age 10) runs daily while the adult program is offered during the day or evening.
