THE SALVATION Army is look-
ing again to the community for
people who can volunteer two
hours on Monday, May 7 to raise
funds for the annual Red Shield
Appeal residential canvass in the
Lower Mainland.

The Army needs 9,000 volunteer
canvassers to cover the residential
areas, with each canvasser calling
at 25 homes.

Volunteers are being organized
by Bergie Wilson, an executive
with the Vancouver Board of
Trade, assisted by the vice-
chairmen Nancy Thordarson,
Louise Mulberry and Evelyn
MacKay.

A volunteer canvasser calls at
residences listed on the canvasser
kit, on Monday, May 7 or during
that weekend, and leaves a return
envelope at homes with no answer.

Canvassers then turn in the
money to a zone leader on May 7.

“B.C. peaple are very respon-
sive to the hun.anitarian work of
the Salvation Army in our cities
and give generously at the door
when the canvasser calls,’’ said
Wilson, chairman of the residential
