Actors’ workshop held

WITH TV and film production tak-
ing place so close to home, Lynn
Valley Recreation Centre urges
aspiring actors and actresses to get
involved in the industry by enroll-
ing in an Acting Workshop offered
this winter.

This comprehensive acting pro-
gram covers improvisational skills,
character analysis, text and scene
study, monologues, voice and
movement, acting and audition
techniques for stage, TV and radio.

Participants will learn to gain
confidence, overcome shyness
and strengthen performing ability.

While the program is entitled
Acting Workshop, anyone involv-
ed in sales, public speaking or
business presentations will benefit
as well. The program is open to
adults and teens, and some acting
experience is preferred but not
essential.

Instructor Roger Barnes has
been performing professionally for

over 14 years in Toronto and Van-
couver, and has accumutated a list
of credits through his extensive
experience.

He is currently acting in two TV
series — Border Town and
MacGyver, and has appeared in
Alfred Flitchcock Presents, Friday
the 13th, Part 8, Jason Takes
Manhattan, the Trivial Pursuit
movie Breaking All The Rules, as
well as over 50 national TV com-
mercials.

The Acting Workshop will run
Monday evenings, Jan. 15 to
March 5, 8:15 to 10:15, at recCen-
tre Lynn Valley.
