FREE TAX clinics are being offered on the North
Shore by voluntcer chartered accountants.

The accountants staff clinics on weekday evenings
and Saturdays, completing returns for taxpayers 65
years old and older whose yearly gross income is
$14,000 or less. ;

Altogether, over 300 chartered accountants are
volunteering their time in more than 40 centres
throughout the Lower Mainland.

With the impact of tax reform, the accountants ex-
pect many more seniors to attend their free tax clinics
this year.

“People who have been able to complete their own
returns up until this year are now approaching us for
help,’”’ said Patrick Ireland of the Institute of
Chartered Accountants. ‘‘We have opened several
new clinics to keep up with the growing need for
assistance.”’

The tax clinics on the North Shore are located at
Kiwanis Lynn Manor, 2555 Whiteley Ct., North Van-
couver, 984-9166; North Shore Neighbourhood
House, 225 East 2nd St., North Vancouver, 987-8138;
Silver Harbour Centre, 144-22nd St., North Van-
couver, 980-2474; and West Vancouver Seniors’ Ac-
tivity Centre, 695-2Ist St., West Vancouver, 926-4375.

fered at 7:30 p.m. with the meeting
beginning at 8 p.m. Everyone is

and Success — What is Success?
and will discuss her background in
the newspaper business first as a
consumer columnist and advocate

and now as an editoria) columnist.

She will define her concept of suc-
cess and explain the paradox of
how having too much success can
ironically lead to failure.

The North Vancouver Women’s
Liberal Commission is a non-profit
organization affiliated with the
British Columbia Women’s Liberal
Commission. The group seeks to
provide a supportive environment
for women of all ages to learn
more atout politics, from behind
the scenes and as political can-
didates.

The group also reflects the con-
cers of women in the Liberal Par-
ty and in society, examining such
issues as equal pay for equa] work
and world peace. |
