DELBROOK RECREATION
Centre still has programs of inter-
est to parents looking for summer
child care.

For preschoolers, the Rainbow
Riders, Star Striders, Preschool
Playmates and Inside Out pro-
grams will be offered throughout
the summer until September.

These programs encourage social
integration and sharing, and give
preschoolers a chance to develop
their individuality.

Other preschool programs are
Waterplay for. Preschoolers, In
French Only, art programs called
French Dabblers and Tiny Tot
Paste and Paper.

For school-age youngsters,
camps are in this year. Registration
for most camps is on a weekly
basis, but Summer Del Ux offers
registration on a daily basis. Single
programs include Claymates —a
pottery program with a swim in-
cluded.

Teeny Jazz will once again be
offered — participants will learn
basic jazz steps to favorite and
familiar songs.

Children who love to cook will
be entertained with Kids Cook
Outs, where they participate in a
barbecue lunch and enjoy fun and
games after.

Delbrook’s camping trips are
also popular. Children pitch a tent
for the night and sleep «ander the
stars at Delbrook Recreation Cen-
tre. Movies, snacks, games and
breakfast are included. Camping
trips start at 6 p.m. Friday night
and end 9 a.m. Saturday morning.
In the event of rain, sleeping ar-
rangements will be moved indoors.

Ambulance First Aid Courses, in-
cluding Save That Child,
Emergency First Aid and Standard
First Aid, and CPR will be of-
fered,

One-night workshops in canning
and freezing fruits and vegetables
and making homemade jam will be
offered.

A, the Canadian-made items listed on

the left side of this page, no matter how trivial or
extravagant, no matter how healthful or how
dangerous, have one thing in common: they’re
all taxed at a rate of 19%. On the right side of
the page is an item that is taxed at a rate of 52%.
Despite the fact that over ten million Canadians
drink beer, and think of it as something less
than a luxury, beer and beer drinkers find
themselves in the 52% tax bracket. In fact; 52%
is the national average. Since the recent provincial
tax hike here in*British Columbia, ' we're actually
paying more than 56%, which is one of the’
‘highest rates anywhere in the free world. Now,
we wouldn't want taxes on all these other

items to be raised. But something seems out

of balance here, and we wanted you to know

the facts, So next time anyone suggests raising’
taxes on beer, you can ask yourself what's fair.
