Runaways nabbed

TWO BURNABY teenagers
who ran away from home
didn’t run far enough.

As a result, they’re back
with their parents after being
processed by North Van-
couver RCMP for at least
four counts of break, enter
and theft.

The juveniles, aged 13 and
14, went on the mini-crime

spree Tuesday, sttaling a
rowboat and then using it to
paddle up Indian Arm.

Along the way they stop-
ped at at least four cabin sites
and plundered the cabins for
what police say was a
*‘substantial’’ amount of
goods.

Larkin told the News Friday.

program co-ordinators at the
house, were given their lay-
off notices this week.

Doug Souberin, executive
director of the House, says
the lay-offs were necessary
because of financial
problems.

But SORWUC — the Ser-
vice, Office and Retail
Workers Union of Canada
—, which represents about 30
workers at the house, charges
the lay-offs are an attempt to
break the union.

Larkin, who has worked
with the Neighborhood
House for the past 17 years
and who is directing pro-
grams for seniors, was one of
the original organizers of the
union at the House. -

Hochu is president of the
local and a former paid
organizer for the union, and
