Hours 9 306pmM Mon Thurs 9 30-80mM Fri I'm sure you've heard it said that grown men who play games well into their adult lives are nothing but a bunch of big kids. Well, I'm finding it dif- ficult to argue that point as I _sit here at. home absolutely covered, with chicken pox, alongside my five year old son Daniel who is in the same boat. We itch in unison while my wife Christine acts as nurse, wife, mother and general organizer after just | having gone through the same thing with our eight year old Gabrielle. So far seven year old Louise is fine. Oh yes, my Mom and Dad have just come in from Cardiff for a visit. It's a strange start to the season in the Yorath household. Oh well, things can only improve. At least my knee which was giving me some problems earlier seems to be responding well. Actually, I was al} ready to resume full training with the team when I came down with chickenpox. I dread to think what could have happened if I had been working out closely with them all the time and we all broke out in spots. We could have been the only team in the NASL who had to wear bells around our necks when we took the field. However, on a positive note I must say that I'm pleased to be doing this Come and sail away SAILING LESSONS | for ladies will start Tuesday, May 4, at the Hollyburn Sailing Club, 1326 Argyle, West Vancouver. Foxed by chicken pox column for the North Shore News, especially since we're well settled into North Shore Terry Yorath living through West Van and thoroughly enjoying the people, the community and the schools. Over the course of the season I'll be attempting to give you tips on what to watch for during a game and a bit of an analysis of games” we've already played where there's some interesting or different happening we can pick up on. & Hopefully, as the season progresses, I'll be able to get back in the side and start fulfilling my role as captain, and give you some on the field insight. As captain, it’s my GOLF’? responsibility to organize the on field activities during the course of a game. Over the years, I've been fortunate in being Captain of every team I've played with, and I've found that organization, and leading by example is probably the key element. Of course, with the Whitecaps this season, that job should be somewhat easier in that we all know each other and what to expect. Although that can often create a false image in the eyes of the crowd. The league will be much more competitive this season and | hope the fans don’t expect too much too soon, although it will be terrific if we can continue to climb from that spring tournament win. In the meantime, though I'll sit here and quietly itch while catching up on news from home with my parents. Incidentally, the Yorath family comes by their soccer naturally. My Dad played briefly with Cardiff until he injured his knee during the War and my brother, who could have gone to Arsenal, played pro at Cardiff. I'll be back in two weeks, and in the meantime, if you have any questions for myself or Peter Lorimer, write us in care of the North Shore News, 1139 Lonsdale Avenue, North Vancouver, B.C. V7M 2H4.
