according to the U.S.
Secretary of Energy, James
Schiesinger.

Schlesinger was talking at — 7

a meeting of energy
ministers in Paris, where the
Americans were condemned
for using twice as much
gasoline as Europeans.

The meeting of 20
ministers from industrial
nations was the first meeting
in two years of the In-
ternational Energy Agency.

reduce the consumption of

in the City had been-called in
to deal with the demon-
Strators, the situation
seemed to calm down by
midnight. ;

But an hour later another |
confrontation took place,
and Tuesday morning, the
San Francisco mayor had
called for help from other
police forces in the area, and
had put a civil defense
organization on the alert to

deal with continuing
violence. :
About seventy people

were injured and a number
were arrested in the rioting.

Acid put in eyedrops

Police in Florida © are
looking for someone: who
substituted hydrochloric
acid for the contexts of
bottles of eyedrops.

The doctored bottles
turned up in four drug

stores, and six people are
being treated for acid burns
“to their eyes.

Federal investigators say it
is definitely a case of
sabotage in the stores.
