Three men appeared in
provincial court in West
Vancouver ThurSday on
charges of second degree
murder as a result of a
stabbing in a North Shore
hotel parking lot.

The preliminary hearing
was expected to last more
than two days into the
September 1978 knife
murder of Joginder Singh
Jiwanpuri, 31, of 65 East
60th Avenue, Vancouver.

Jiwanpuri was slain on the
parking lot of the iIn-
ternational Plaza Hotel and
four men have been charged

Fred Rabbit meets the firefighters

Fred Rabbit’s spell at the
firehall was shortlived. In
fact he neyer even got to go
out on a fire with the boys.

But for the day he was there,
furry Fred was little less than
king of the ftrehall and had a
lot of big tough firemen
running around catering to
his every need.

Fred came into the lives of
the North Vancouver District
‘Fire Department personnel
at about 3 a.m. Wednesday.

call and there was Fred, a
large black rabbit, sitting in
the middle of Lynn Valley
Road near Fromme.

One of the firefighters
jumped off the truck, scooped
him up and took him back to
