Lions Gate Hospital and North Shore Home Support are now officially governed by the North Shore Health Board, However, no functional a . changes have been made to the delivery of services or the daily operations of either agency. “The North Shore Health Board is committed to integrating services for amore efficient and effective health care system, said Dr. Inge Schambor- zki, Chief Executive Officer for the North Shore Health Board. “This will be achieved through a consultative, inclusive process. As this new system evolves over time, services will continue to be delivered smoothly and without interruption.” Commitment to Quality Care Continues Individuals requiring heaith care services will continue to benefit from the same service providers, the same health care professionals and maintain the same appointments in the same locations. Employees will continue to perform their current duties as they do now, and managers will maintain their current responsibilities, What does this mean to the community? As the new regional sysiem unfolds, the community will benefit from a streamlined system designed around health issues and priorities relevant to the North Shore. This will take place over time; with the first phase focusing on amalgamating agencies under the North Shore Health Board and the second phase focusing on the integration of services. All agencies of the North Shore Health Board will participate in the . process of developing an appropriate organizational structure ior health services on the North Shore. Community groups and other stakeholders will also participate in defining a shared vision of regional health services. Once a plan is in place with clearly defined goals, changes will be implemented to ensure that the agencies of the North - Shore Health Board work together to: meet the health care néeds of North” Shore residents. Regional Medical Advisory Committee To Be Formed The first meeting to establish a Regional Medical Advisory Committee to the North Shore Health Board was held Wednesday, April 3 at Lions Gate Hospital. The purpose of this initial meeting was to set up a ‘Regional Selection Committee to recommend represeniatives for appointment to the Regional Medical Advisory Committee (RMAC). The RMAC will provide advice to the North Shore Health Board on matiers relating to the provision of inedical -. care throughout the region, “the mon- itoring and reporting of the quality and effectiveness of care and the continuing education of physicians. New Time for North Shore Health Board Meetings As of Thursday, May 9th, the meetings of the North Shore Health Board will begin at.7:00 pm, instead of 6:00 pm on the second and fourth Thursday of every month.
