The small West Vancouver res-
taurant was founded by Jerry
"Great Balls of Burgers’ Lewis in
1987 on the philosophy that a
hamburger should have a single
basic price regardless of its
adornments.

Lewis has since departed, but his
restaurant endures. Well, no,
more than endures, it flourishes.

Lacated beneath the great Chez

Michel and across from the ex-
cellent and recently renovated
Beach Side Cafe, Bumbles oc-
cupies inspired gastronomic
ground.

Eric Bentz, who took over Bum-
bles in July 1989, has expanded
Bumbles’ original hamburger heart
to add the body 2nd soul of a
classic Eurepean bistro.

The Canadian (bacon, cheese
and mushrooms, eh), French (on
garlic bread with mushrooms and
Bearnaise sauce), Italian, British,
Danish (with Blue cheese dress-
ing), Hawaiian, Mexican, and
Caesar (a toasted bun filled with
Caesar salad and bacon) burger
variations (all $5.95, all made with
organic beef) have been joined by
a full selection of appetizers and
big-plate entrees,

Everything from Shrimps in Per-
nod ($5.95) te Steak and Prawns
($13.95) for the Bumbilian en-
thusiast.
