Dawgers take slo-pitch tourney

THE THIRD annual North Shore
Men’s Slo-pitch tournament of Ju-
ly 8th and 9th is now history.

The L.A. Dawgers came out on
top, a team that has been in the
league since its inception. Powered
by a strong defence the Dawgers
silenced the bats of the Blue Ig-
uanas in the final game to win the
two-day long tournament.

Third place belongs to the North
Shore Heaters who beat Court-
house-dragondry. after a narrow
defeat by the Blue Iguanas.

Tournament spokesman Steve

Roper said the tournament was a
success not only because the
players and fans enjoyed
themselves but because enougn
money was raised to upgrade
Kinsmen Park for next year.

‘*We need to give as well as take
from the community in order to
maintain a good balance,’’ Roper
said.

_ The American Division race has
éhanged dramatically since the ear-
ly part of June.

Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. at
Kinsmen Park.
