Why can’t | Doug make — people smile? Dear Editor: 1am only a 16-year-old student, 1 might be young, but feel | must respond to a recent article by Doug Col- lins; since understanding others’ opinions enrich our lives and better our society. The senior citizens of our community have survived the biggest journey of all- lite. A journey some of us are just beginning. They should be able to relax and ceJebrate living without fi- nancial burdens, which the government is trying to make possible. | am sure our seniors enjoy being temembered and respected (lower bus fares, pensions, etc). They have never done anything to Mr. Collins, so why should he target them? Mr. Collins has made quite a name for himself — not by being an admired 11 - Wednesday, July 17, columnist — but by com- plaining about everything and everyone around him, To him, | say, “Sir, do you really hate your society, or do you just oppose it for publicity?"’ If your editorials are your true feelings, then I feel sorry for you. You must be a very unhappy man. Why not make people smile when they read what you write, not angry. There is enough hate in the world.
