Vancouver’ are keeping a
close eye on the’ Sunday
shopping scene as they con-
tinue to consider their own
options.

Hugh Addison of the mall
administration said Thurs-
day that Park Royal’s review
‘af the situation to date in-
‘dicates that the centre is be-
ing hurt.

“We know definitely that
a lot’ of our customers are
going elsewhere on Sunday
and from that we can sur-
mise that its affecting sales
at some of our stores,"’ Ad-
‘dison said. ‘

Park Royal is one of the
only major shopping centres
on the Lower Mainland ‘that
is not allowed to open for
Sunday shopping.

opening in late November
last year when Zellers an-
nounced that its stores
throughout the province
would open Sundays during
the pre-Christmas buying

Zellers and the remainder
of the mall shut down just
after Christmas and, with
few exceptions, has remain-
ed closed until today.

Last week, however, the
mafl announced that it
would reopen Sundays in
response to consumer de-
mand.
