Contest coverage lauded Dear Editor: Qn behalf of the North Shore Gardens Contest Society members, may I express our thanks to the North Shore News for the excellent coverage of our 1998 Garden Tour and Garden Contest. We were very pleased with the support of North Shore News staff in advertising our contest and tour, and really thrilled with the excellent Bright Lights page to fol- low up on the tour day. Readers may be inter- ested to learn that the biggest number of garden enthusiasts ever toured through eight gardens across the North Shore, and our volunteers spoke with visitors from Fort Langley, Sechelt and one couple from England who are involved with the organization of Yorkshire in Bloom. All of the participants were very impressed with the high quality of the gardens on tour, and I would like to extend con- gratulatiuns and thanks to every volunteer member of the North Shore . Gardens Contest Society, the Van Dusen Master .. Gardeners and the gener- ous garden owners who contributed to the great success of the twelfth -/annual North Shore gar- “den tour. Bill. I am the owner of the green Ford Taurus that was parked just before the entrance to Deep Cove last Friday night (July 24.) You found my car keys and left them safely in the driver side door for me to find. To step back a bit, my two-year-old daughter and I.were out enjoying the wonderful live music at Panorama Park that evening, when upon returning to my car and stepping up ta open the passenger side door to put my daughter into her car seat, I. realized the car keys, which I had assuredly tucked into my back ‘pocket, were no : longer there. Lickily, just at that moment, a family friend happened to pass by and say hello. When I told him of our predicament, (we live in Lynn Valley and to get home to our second set of keys would have been tro far to walk) and after an unsuccessful trip back to Panorama Park to try and find the lost keys, he gave us a lift home where name, full address and telephone number. I am making this sound simple There was actually a Jor of back and forth that made the entire escapade rather Chaplinesque. Nevertheless, we did get back to the car with the cxtra set of keys in hand. But, lo and behold, when I went to put my key in the lock, there was the original set right there in the driver's side door lock! So thank you very much to whoever it was that found my sct of keys where I must have dropped them beside the car. From what I can piece tagether, you must have tried the key in the lock to see if they belonged to my car, then placed them safely where you assumicd Iw: ‘ould c asily find them when I returned.
