Her first priority is to have North Vancouver District better ‘enforce a bylaw banning trucks and school buses on Garden Avenue. She also wants the size or positioning of a Mr. Lube sign altered to improve visi- bility for — sauthbound Garden Avenue motorists turning right on to Marine Drive. However, Gavin Joyce, manager of Administration and Transportation at the district said both problems have already been dealt with. “One of the things you do when you change Signage is put somebody on it and enforce it,” said Joyce of the district edict banning trucks from the street. He said the district and the RCMP have monitored the truck situation along --——dGiarden Avenue and found it satisfactory with only one violating truck within a 10- hour monitoring period. North Vancouver RCMP traffic section’s Cpl. Tom Adair took part in the moni- toring session and said the signs must be working because only one vioiator was observed. “I went down aad looked at the sign,” said Adair. “It’s one of those things where there are so many signs if you haven’t seen it before ... bur it’s visible from the street.” Gottlieb-Tanaka_ doesn’t discount that the RCMP and district staff may have moni- tored the street, but says their timing was way off, She says the monitoring took place in the mornings and evenings. “Who’s driving in the evening?” She also questions the RCMP’s commitment to enforce the truck ban. Last week, Gottlicb-Tanaka says she saw a “large truck” trav- elling along Garden Avenue with a police cruiser right behind it. “They didn’t even pull ir over,” she said. Gottlieb-Tanaka’s second bone of contention centred around the Mr. Lube sign near the northeast corner of Garden Avenue and Marine . , et Loa, ve. re yoy .
