March 20, 1983 Cap Blues women’s volleyball team head off to Toronto later in the week attempting to capture the national college volleyball crown. Blues earned the right to the eastern trip after a big comeback win against Vancouver Community College last weekend in the B.C. championships held at vcc. In preliminary semi-final action, Blues defeated Cariboo three games to two to move into the finals against the top ranked Langara school. VCC jumped out to a fast two game lead in the best of five before the North Shore school pulled it together in a marathon 21-19 win in the third game. From that point on, Cap took control winning the last two games 15-12 and 16-14 to take the provincial honors. The ex University of ‘Winnipeg student was a big help to the local school as was another all star selec- tion, Shannon Macey from Gibsons. The team will return from the eastern quest next Sunday, hopefully with some hardware to show for their efforts.
