The centre is in its planning Stages right now, with the West Vancouver Community Services Advisory Commission (WVCSAC) guiding the project. West Vancouver School Board trustee Pat Boname, who sits on the WVCSAC board, said the crisis centre will be open in about six weeks to two months. How the centre will be funded, who will operate it and where on the North Shore it will be located have yet to be decided. Boname said the centre will focus on teenagers, because there is no facility on the North Shore to address their emotional problems. ““Most of the other age groups are looked after on the North Shore and this (teenagers) is just one great big hole in the system,”’ said Boname. She said most people do not re- alize that many North Shore teenagers are in need of emotional counselling. She adds that suicide atternpts have been made by some students and a list of ‘‘clients’’ is already waiting for the crisis centre to open. Boname said on a recent occa- sion it took her two weeks to get emergency help for a_ severely depressed student who was visiting her. “This centre is definitely need- ed. {ts just ridiculous when you Presents WESTERN CANADA TRAVELTALE FILM NARRATED IN PERSON BY RON SHANIN * IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF ABRAHAM * IRELAND * ORIENT EXPRESS * LOIRE RIVER FRANCE * NORWAY * ALASKA * WORLD CRUISE OF THE QE2 VAN.
