Entry Teens on the run illegal immigrants riding North America’s rails LOCAL police were frustrated this month in dealing with two elusive Central American teenagers who were in Canada illegally. The tcenagers, aged 16 and 17, and an adult were arrested by North Vancouver RCMP after they were found on a freight train on June 30. North Vancouver RCMP Const. Immigration turned the teenagers over to the care of the provincial Ministry of Children and Families. Two days after being arrested, the teenagers fled the care of the Ministry of Children and Families when left alone in an office, accord- ing to police. Const. Seaman said that immigration officials would not issue warrants for the teenagers’ arrest because they were considered children. On July 7, onc of the miss- ing teens was apprehended at the Surrey SkyTrain station by B.C. Transit security. As before, the teen was turned over to the care of the provin- cial Ministry of Children and Families. Police say there is nothing to prevent the teenager from taking off again. Police say both tecnagers are street-wise, have no jobs and speak little English. Const. Seaman said the police would not be surprised if the teenagers commit crimes while illegally in Canada. Entry through bathroom window Car hits worker A construction worker was hit by a car on Friday on Cypress Bowl Road. According to the West Vancouver Police, the worker was standing beside a dump truck, talking to the driver when he stepped back into the flow of traffic and was hit by a car. Police say the car was overtaking the dump truck. The accident occurred about 400 metres from the main ski area. The construction worker, in his 60s, was taken to Lions ate Hospital with a broken eg.
