Options for volunteers

PARTICIPATE IN your com-
munity by volunteering. The fol-
lowing is a sample of the many
volunteer opportunities available
through North Shore Community
Services.

BIRTH control teacher with
good interpersonal skills is wanted
to teach birth control methods to
new clinic patients. Volunteer will
conduct brief interviews and build
rapport with patient. A nursing
background will be helpful bat is
not essential. Training is from 7
to 10 p.m. four Wednesday even-
ings. Actual hours are one Wed-
nesday eve. per week from 6:30 to
9 p.m.

ings. A person who enjoys baking
is also needed to assist a group of
elderly people who enjoy baking.
Hours are Monday to Thursday
for one month.

EXPLORE a career in) Early
Education. Volunteers are needed
to babysit infants and toddlers (up
to two sears) while mothers have
a brewk at a video night Tuesday
evenings from 7 to 9 p.m. Also
needed are volunteers tO assist
with babysitting at a Mums With
Babies hot lunch program that
allows mothers (o visit during the
lunch hour while someone super-
vises their children.

HALLOWEEN

Hours are-

Thursday Tt a.m. to 1 p.m. once
a week. Teenagers are welcome.
Volunteer should be good with
children and reliable.

NEW immigrant host families
are needed to assist. new im-
migrants with English and to help
them get acquainted with the
North Shore and community ser-
vices. This is a great opportunity
for the entire family to get involv-
ed and to learn about other
cultures. Hours are flexible.
