INL, BRIEFS Rottweiler kills pet sheltie A NORTH Vancouver woman helplessly watched in horror Sunday afternoon as a Rottweiler ripped apart and killed her pet Sheltie dog. The woman and her mother were walking the dog along a trail near Ron Andrews Pool. The dog was off its leash and about 50 feet ahead of them on the Windsor Secondary Schoot field when she heard a whine. She then saw a black Rottweiler, which was also off its leash, at- tacking her dog. A muzzle was attached to the Rottweiler’s leash. The owner of the Rottweiler attempted to control his dog, but was unsuccessful. North Vancouver RCMP and the SPCA were notified. A police patrol of the area failed to locate the Rottweiler and its owner. NV man jailed for assault A 23-YEAR-OLD North Vancouver man was sentenced Feb. 27 in North Vancouver provincial court to three months in jai) following an attack in which a waterbed was stabbed. David Andrew Little pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman and mischief over $1,000 in connection with an Aug. 12, 1989 incident in which he stabbed a waterbed with a knife causing water to leak to the downstairs suite. Appearing before Judge R.D. Grandison, Little was also fined $200, placed on probation for 18 months and ordered to pay the victim $601 in compensation. Hash possession lands man in jail A 19-YEAR-OLD North Vancouver man was sentenced recently in North Vancouver provincial court to 30 days in jail for possession of narcotics. Peter Nilsson was found guilty on the charge March 7 in connec- tion with a Sept. 20, 1989 seizure of one gram of hashish at the Beanx and Belles snooker hal? on East 15th Street in North Van- couver. The wrap-up event, a fundraiser for environmental groups, in- cluding the North Shore-based World Home Environmentalists’ Network (WHEN), is scheduled to run from 1 p.m. to 1 a.m. Fri- day, March 23 at the Vancouver Trade and Convention Centre.
