Conference
to address
Christianity
in the ‘90s

Roads Conference being organized
at St. Simon’s Anglican Church in
Deep Cove.

The conference will feature
former Deep Cove residents Trevor
and Andrea Fisher, and a ‘‘team”’
of speakers they are bringing with
them from their current home in
Powell River.

says the Friday, Feb. 23 and Feb.
24 conference, whose theme is
Fork in the Road: {fs Christianity a
Viable Option in the 1990s?, will
be conducted using a storytelling
method.

Some of the team speakers in-
clude a single parent and a recov-
ering alcoholic, whe will share
their experiences and ‘‘look at
ways they found the strength to
make choices in their lives."

With post-graduate degrees in
social work and theology, Trevor
Fisher has a vast amount of expe-
rience in family, drug and alcohol
counselling. Currently an Anglican
priest in Powel] River, he ran a
private counselling office in Deep
Cove until his move in 1985.

Andrea Fisher, says Hird, is a
“dynamic woman ... who has hau
a major impact on countless
lives.’’ She is best remembered in
this community, he notes, for her
compassion in helping “hurting
people.”’
