Dear Editor: I read with great interest about the party that was broken up a week ago Saturday night on Chesterfield by the RCMP. I just have to respond that Mr. Cunningham had better get his head out of the sand and face reality. I believe the police didn’t have a choice in this matter. with 150 young people who have been drinking. I have seen the damage that can be done when that many young people get together. My brother rented his million unemployed in Canada and now thousands of workers in B.C. are on by 17.8 per cent from 1, 1939 to October 1, 1941, but from Oct. 1, 1941 to April 1, 1945, the imcrease was a mere 2.8 per cent.” In other words, three quarters of one per cent yearly. In September, 1980, the United States Government released a three year study which warned that the world faces grim problems unless nations co-operate. The article is tithed “Twenty Years Left.” left to head off Apocalypsc. Remove the roost Dear Editor. years the Instead of house to two supposedly nice fellows and two months later they, too, had a party that police were called to twice in one night. From my understanding, the police would not go in because beer bottles were being thrown = through already smashed windows — along with kitchen cup- boards, TV sets and anything that was not nailed aia house was destroyed. The back stairs were torn away and ripped down. The front door was kicked in. Hydro was ripped out. There are huge holes in the walls through which you can walk from one room to another. And numerous other things. Now, you tell me if this situation was any different. I putting the onus on labor alone, let rich and poor alike share the responsibility, by having price and wage control. G.R. Hunter Victoria wish the police had brought their dogs and even tear gas along. From my understanding there is thousands of dollars worth of damage to this home — not to mention the fact that someone came back a week later, turned on all the taps and broke the pipes. That ended up totally flooding the suite down- stairs, once again costing thousands of dollars and, at the same time, losing two decent tenants. When that many people get together, it isn’t a party any more. It always turns into a riot. Police arrive at these places and often they don't even know who lives there. As far as I am concerned, Alistair Cunningham is lucky. All that happened ts a dog bite — he might think twice about arriving at a so- called party next time. [ve seen it all and I think Mr. Cunningham Sr. should try try to look beyond his son to more of the evidence that is there. As to why, in our case, the police didn’t come with helmets, truncheons and police dogs, we still don't have an answer. None of this horrendous destruction of my brother's home would have happened. This is something that has just happened in the last couple of weeks and I felt I would like to share it with the public. It certainly gives you something to think about when a person like Mr. Cunningham feels there was police brutality and another — myself — feels we don’t have enough police protection against young people who have little or no respect for anyone or anyone's property. I feel the police were in their right trying to break the party up and if it meant using a police dog, so be it. I would certainly hope this would not happen again as it did to my brother’s home.
