2 - Sunday, September 5, 1999 - North Shore News o, “ LOOKING Ac the request of Fisheries and Oceans Canada and the Mosquito Creek Stewardship Society, the City Council is considering adding eleven vacant, City-owned lots to Mosquito Creek Park to enable a creek-side channel to be created. This channel would be built to the west of the existing creek and east of Feil Avenue between West 2!st and West 17th street. The new crzek channel would be designed to provide refuge and habicat for various types of trout and salmon, away from the faster flowing Mosquito Creek main channel which has lost much of its habitat supporting characteristics through various fiood prevention changes over the years. In addition to contributing all of the land, the City expects to support this initiative financially and on an ongoing basis through special park maintenance standards. For more information on this initiative, please contact City Parks and Environment at 985-7761. DO YOU HAVE IDEAS FOR COMMUNITY ENHANCEMENT?
