North Van firm gets rights
to emergency escape device

in Canada for the Air Cap-
sule Mode! 5000, an
emergency escape device
capable of providing a
five-minute air supply for
use in hazardous breathing
environments.

The self-contained breathing
apparatus is manufactured in
California by International Safety
Devices.

conds to apply, weighs approx-
imately six pounds, is
techargeable, affords 360 degrees
of visibility and comes with an
easy-to-read pressure gauge.

From California, the parent
company’s client list includes
President Ronald Reagan, the U.S.
Secret Service, the U.S. army,
United Airlines, Hughes Aircraft
and the 3M Company.

Based in North Vancouver, GRS
Safety Equipment, a division of
GRS Marine Consultants Ltd., ac-
quired the Canadian distribution
rights in June. GRS President
Geoff Seddon said the product is
currently being used locally by
Seaspan, B.C. Ferries and
Kingcombe Navigation. Other
