of volunteer opportunities
available through = North
Shore Community Services
{NSCS).

A summer = program
yoluateer is needed by a
North Shore Agency. Duties
include assisting with day
_ camps. sports camps and teen
leadership programs.
Volunteers should be over 16
years old and have experience
with children.

A special needs program
volunteer is required to
accompany staff and
participants on day trips to
various events. An excellent
opportunity to gain
experience and visit new
places.

A yolunteer fibrarian is
required to perform § various
library duties, including
cataloguing. shelving,
processing loans and returns,
and filing. Some typing is
also required.

daytime classes to active
seniors in the following areas:
creative writing, book-of-the
month, page-a-day Novel and
weight loss.

A handyman is needed
for work at a local church.
Duties include, garden work
(weeding). tidying-up,
creosoting the church bell.

window frames as well as
some pruning

charges:

Before Judge Doug Moss
in North = Vancouver
provineial court on May 6:

Dennis James Reitan, 25,
of North Vancouver, was
jailed nine months and
received [2 months’ probation
after he pleaded guilty to the
break and enter of a business
in the 200-block of West
Esplanade on Sept. 25, 1995
in North Vancouver City,

Warren Richard Rhoads,
27, of Port Coquitlam,
received 24 months’ probation
after he pleaded guilty to the
following:

Bone charge of stealing tools
belonging to a man between
April 1, 1995 and June 18,
1995 in North Vancouver
District;

@ three charges of stealing a
watch, jewelry, guitar,
amplifier, CDs and video
movies belonging to a man in
Richmond in June 1995:

@ one charge of committing
mischief by damaging the
man’s property in the same
month.

Rhoads, a former North
Vancouver resident, was
required to pay $1,900
restitution to the man and
