Capilano Volkswagen dealership, which held its grand opening on Thursday. An open house for the general
public will be held today and Saturday at the dealership, located at 1151 Marine Drive.

POLITICIANS, SPORTS personalities and other
celebrities were on hand Thursday for the official
grand opening of Capilano Volkswagen Ltd.

After extensive renovations, Capilano Volkswagen,
located at 1151 Marine Drive in North Vancouver,
was officially re-opened by Dr. Siegfried Haller,
consul general of the Federal Republic of Germany.

The dealership, which has been selling Volkswagen
products for over 20 years from its North Vancouver
location, has undergone total remodelling.

The showroom has been expanded from just under
3,000 square feet to 4,500 square feet and is now
completely carpeted and can accommodate 14 cars
instead of the previous eight.

The attractive architectural design incorporates a
series of saw-tooth glass panels. Three new planters
have been added, floodlit at night, and the sidewalk
has been replaced with interlocking bricks.

The juxurious reception, lounge and sales areas
have been built with customer comfort as the prime
goal. There are no offices, but tables and chairs are
grouped in an open floor concept.

Stella Yen, the accountant, has been an employee
for 16 years and Jim McKenzie, a newcomer to the
Capilano family, has been selling Volkswagen pro-
ducts on the Lower Mainland for 35 years.

There will be a public open house for customers
and local residents today and Saturday from 9 a.m.
to 6 p.m.
