NY-SEYMOUR NOMINATION MEETING

Liberals to elect leader

THE PROVINCIAL Liberal party will elect its candidate
for the North Vancouver-Seymour riding Thursday.

Votes will be cast by party
membership in a 7:30 p.m. meeting
at) North Vancouver's Coach
House Inn,

Thus far a single candidate has
announced his intention to run for
nomination in the riding.

Michael Karabelas said Monday
he decided to run ‘heeause 1am
tired of the confrontational tactics
of the government."

The 42-year-old) Anglican
clergyman said leadership of the
Social Credit) party and repre-
sentation of the riding by incum-
bent MLA Jack Davis, who was
recently appointed provincial
minister of energy, mines and pet-
roleum resources, have both been
largely ineffective.

Widowed with (wo teenage sons,
Karabelas has lived in North Van-
couver since 1972.

He served as rector of North
Vancouver's St. Agnes Anglican
Church from 1972 to 1974 and as
regional dean of seven North Van-
couver Anglican Churches from
1978 to 1984,

from 1974 to 1979,

In the 1983 provincial election,
