34 ~ Wednesday, December 4, 1985 - North Shore News Sports _ Silver gloves swing THE 43RD Annual Silver Gloves Boxing Competition will be hosted by the British Columbia Amateur Boxing Association December 7 at Burnaby’s Provincial Train- ing Centre, 250 S. Will- ingdon Ave. The Silver Gloves tour- nament was founded by Val Roche, the ‘‘Pied Piper’ of amateur boxing, lacrosse south and soccer in east Vancouver and Burnaby for more than three decades. Participating in this prestigious event will be many boxers who will go on to represent Canada in the Canada Winter Games in Nova Scotia in 1987. Championships: Seycove finished ninth in the overall team standings with 86 points. These points were all gained in Speed Swimming ‘‘A*’ events where they finished fourth in team stan- dings. Sentinel came fifth in Syn- chronized Swimming team standings with 15 points, Sutherland placed se- cond and Handsworth third in diving leam standings with 27 and 24 respectively.
