Collins smears and discredits

In response to ‘‘Sikhs
Bash Media’ by Doug Col-
lins, North Shore News,
Wednesday , April 3,
Doug Collins’ discriminating
ears and eyes never cease to
amaze me.

Asa victim of the violence
perpetrated by a tiny minori-
ty among the Sikhs in British

Columbia, ! have incessantly
condemned the very violence
which Doug Collins uses to
smear and discredit my en-
tire community. For the last
six to seven months, Doug
Collins has allowed his eyes
and ears to remain blocked
except to allow the various
violent incidents to reach
them.

The fact that many people

in the community, including
myself, have actively and
continuously spoken out
against’ this violence has
totally escaped Doug Col-
jins’ attention. This omission
on the part of Mr. Collins is
not inadvertent. He suffers
from ‘‘omission-mania’’
which eventually leads him
to brand entire communities
as violent so that he can

Please’ allow me to

challenge the letter of Samir
Gandesha' (Friday, May 3)
saying Doug Collins would
have us return to the fron
Age; unless, of course, he
means’ to the best values
when men were of iron and
ships were of wood. If Col-
lins is not quite the last, he’s
certainly the liveliést voice
on behalf of traditional Ca-
nadian values. Great
pleasure getting a_ thrice-
weekly fix of manly, com-
mon-sense comment on cur-
rent affairs. Even his
whimsey pieces are good
stuff. It’s like getting the
great Mencken, Pegler and
Royko all in one.
: We should heed what he
says the vaunted Charter of
Rights will be when some of
our fundamental laws are in
effect rnade and enforced by
permanently appointed
judges not accountable to
thee and me. Remember,
they’re all lawyers. And Jack
Cade islong dead! _

The distorted logic that

entire community only en-
courages the lunatic fringe in
the community to further in-
flict terror and violence
upon us, because it knows
that through columns like
that of Doug Collins, it will
be able to affect, at will, the
credibility of the entire
community,
