Encore will be oftered in base, custom S, deluxe LS and luxury/sport GS three- door models, and S and L.S five-door models. All Encores will be powered by Renault's 1.4 litre, four cylinder transverse-mounted engine, fitted with a precision elec- tronic fuel injection system for the best possible com- bination of performance and fuel economy. An overdrive four-speed manual transmission is stan- dard on base S models, and an overdrive five-speed manual transmission is stan- dard on LS and GS models. A three-speed automatic transaxle ts available as an option. Encore features pedestal- type bio-formed front seats that move tore and aft on centre tracks. Leg room for up to three rear-seat Passengers is greatly enhanc- ed by the pedestal mounting Six-way adjustment on LS and GS models permits oc- cupants to recline front seats or rock them into several pre- set positions.
