Shaking and scared

QUESTION: I have a
question on control.
Sometimes I feel like my
thoughts are running
rampant and I have no
control over their beginning
or ending. Other times I will
start shaking, like my hands,
uncontrollably, so that I
can't pick up a cup of coffee

This comes and goes, as
does the feeling of loss of
control. When [m O.K., I
think back to those other un-
controllable times and think
that [m just letting my
imagination go wild and that

it won't happen again. But it
does happen again, now
even more frequently and
I'm scared.

Fm 19 years old and at-
tending college - a fairly
normal person. This strange
feeling that my mind could
run quite adequately without
me is new and very strange.

imagination?

STEWART: Whether it is a
figment of your imagination
or not is unimportant at this
stage of the game. You are

bothered and fearful and un-
comfortable, and so, the
experience, to you, is real. I
would far rather talk with
you than write you like this,
but seeing I do not have your
address I will at least make a
suggestion or two. First off,
if you have a doctor, be sure
to tell him about it. Your

home with your particular
condition.

My other suggestion is
that you seek counselling,
unless you feel you can talk
things out with your own
doctor or one to whom he
might refer you. When you

would have an advantage if
you knew. If your doctor
feeis that what “ails” you is
out of his line, he will un-
doubtedly refer you to

relax as much as you can.

help around for you.

-QUESTION: I see in one of

the brochures that a man |
have known for years is
scheduled to teach a course
on handling STRESS.

That's great, except that
up till a couple of years ago
when I last saw him, he was
one of the most stress-ridden
people I have ever known! I
can picture him making
people in his classes MORE
stressful instead of being the
help they are hoping for.
How would he get that job?
