But the first you wiil know of it is when the $144 ticket arrives in the mail! If you haven’t already heard, the provin- cial government is beefing up its Integrated Traffic Camera Unit — the friendly fotks responsible for photo radar — and adding an Intersection Safety Camera Program. Experts argue that the visible pres- ence of the cameras changes driving behaviour. Sites using the cameras in England and the United States show drops of between 10% and 69% in fatal intersec- tion collisions. North Vancouver City is, so far, the only North Shore municipality to authorize the installation of the cameras. Six sites have been selected, but only two will have operating cameras at any one time. They are: Lonsdale and 13th; Lonsdale and 23rd; Lonsdale and Esplanade; Marine and Fell; Marine and 3rd; St. George’s and 13th. All money raised by the tickets will go to the province. The lenders claim they were aware the owners had a first mortgage of $1.1 million on the property, allegedly worth $4 million.
