To get attention for its fundraising campaign in Europe, Greenpeace is orchestrating a boycott of forest products from British Columbia. Adding insult to injury, they’re effectively saying that we neither know how, nor want to protect our forests. Even though BC has some of the most comprchensive and strict forestry regulations in the world. And in spite of the fact that BC has more protected forest than the entre area of many European countries. With misinformation calculated to outrage well mean- ing European consumers, they portray us as irresponsible and in need of being saved from ourselves. This boycott will have no positive effect on the environment, but it may raise millions of dollars for Greenpeace. Even as it threatens the lives and livelihoods of entire communities in BC’s forests. It’s time to stand up and fight this selfish ploy by an organization that now embodies the cynicism and hypocrisy it once stood against.
