CANADIAN AUTHOR
and former teacher Lyn
Hancock got a big surprise
during a recent visit to
North Vancouver City
Library when three of her
former pupils turned up
unexpectedly to welcome
her back to Vancouver.

“It was our 20th (high school)
reunion and someone brought me
a slip of paper saying that Lyn
was going to be in town as a guest
author,’" said Chris Patrick, who
attended Fancock’s Grade 5 and 6
class at Maple Grove School in
Vancouver.

“*We (Bruce Howden and Frank
McAllister) decided to go together
and surprise her and have soine
fun. We sat quietly at the back
behind a class of Grade 5s. She
told us later she thought we were
a bunch of unemployed bums.”*

Hancock is the author of six
children’s books, including
There's a Seal in My Sleeping
Bag, An Ape Came Out of my
Hatbox and Love Affair with a
Cougar.

She had a unique way of
teaching, according to those who
knew her.
