THE NORTH VANCOUVER Folkfest committee will be pres- enting its second special free Christmas concert of Grandmas’ Christmas, Saturday, Dec. 6 at North Vancouver’s Centennial Theatre. The Grandmas’ Christmas con- cert will feature over 150 dancers, singers and performers celebrating a variety of Christmas traditions from around the world, says North’ Vancouver City Ald. Stella Jo Dean, Chairman of the North Vancouver Folkfest committee. “It’s going to be a favulous show for the whole fanrily’’ said Dean, who pointed out that some of the countries and cultures rep- resented ai the concert will be Sweden, Italy, China, Hawaii and Scotland. “We're very proud of this pres- entation,’’ she added. ‘‘We thought we'd like to put the spirit back into Christmas, instead of the materialistic attitudes that seem to have taken over the season.”” “The show is about the spirit of Christ:aas and how people around the world celebrate this very special time of the year. It’s a rare chance for people to see the variety of cultures celebrating the spirit of Christmas together under one Christmas , at Courtyards¥ roof.” Dean said that in spite of the number of performers involved, admission to the show is free. “Everybody involved is volun- teering their time and effort for this event. They’ve done a re- markable job in putting this show together."” Last year, she said, organizers had to turn away about 200 people for the afternoon show. This year there is only one show at 7:30 p.m. For additional information, please contact the North Van- couver Chamber of Commerce at 987-4488, @ gifts, tree trims, stocking stuffers and all your holiday hosting needs.
